The Storefront Improvement Program was created in 1986 to enhance and revitalize commercial neighborhoods throughout the City of San Diego. As part of a comprehensive approach to small business assistance and neighborhood revitalization, the City of San Diego, through its Redevelopment Agency assists eligible small businesses and property owners who improve building facades visible to customers, neighboring merchants, and residents, in a manner that is consistent with neighborhood design standards, with a rebate of up to one-third of the cost or $10,000 upon completion of the project. Morena area projects also qualify for a matching rebate from the North Bay Redevelopment Project.
